Editorial Board free

Manage your Ghost publication's schedule.

The Editorial Board helps you keep your ideas, drafts, and scheduled work synchronized and in one place. Calendar vs Kanban? Hard choice.

The problem

Two records of the same work, and only one of them is true.

Ghost knows about posts. It doesn't know about plans — the piece that's been promised, the interview that hasn't happened, the explainer somebody will start on Monday. So the plan goes somewhere else, and from that moment you're keeping two records of the same work: one that publishes the site, and one that tells everyone what's coming.

The second record is only accurate on the day somebody remembers to update it. A post gets scheduled and the spreadsheet never hears about it. A draft goes back for revisions and the shared doc still says it's ready. Nobody was careless, but everyone was busy.

See it

The same work, four ways to look at it.

Which view you want depends on the question. Where is everything up to? What's landing next week? Who has the council piece? Same board underneath, four ways in.

The Editorial Board in board view: six colour-coded columns headed Idea, Drafting, Ready for Review, Editing, Revision Requested and Ready to Schedule, each holding story cards with an assignee and a date, and a tray along the bottom labelled In Ghost holding published and scheduled posts
Every stage is a column, and each one carries its own count. Work that has already reached Ghost sits in a tray along the bottom — out of the way, still in sight.
The Editorial Board in month view: an August 2026 calendar grid with story cards on individual days, each showing a thumbnail and a status label, and several days left empty
Month. Where a day with nothing on it becomes impossible to miss.
The Editorial Board in list view: a table of stories with columns for image, title, status, assignee, planned date and notes, above filter controls for status, author and sort order
List. Filter by status or author, sort by date, change a status without opening anything.
The Edit Editorial Item dialog, with fields for title, status, assignee, planned publication date and notes, a note that the title is managed in Ghost with a link to edit it there, and Archive and Delete controls
Any item. Set a status, hand it over, move the date, leave a note. Titles owned by Ghost stay Ghost's, with a link straight to the editor.

Assignments

Assign someone to each item. See everyone's tasks at once, or filter by assignee.

Told, not pestered

Subscribe to email notifications when an item changes statuses or hands. Mute anything that feels like noise.
