Ghost sends the welcome email and then goes quiet. Email Automations picks up from there: a note three days in, a check-in at two weeks, a thank-you when someone upgrades, a nudge before a renewal, a win-back after a cancellation — each one written by you, sent from your own Mailgun account, and timed by us.
How it works
You write the emails. We watch the clock.
Write the emails in Mailgun
Each email is a Mailgun template in your own account — your domain, your sending reputation, your deliverability. We hand the template the member's first name and full name so it can greet them properly.
Pick who gets them, and when
Choose an audience — new free members, new paid members, trials about to end, members about to renew, cancelled members, and a dozen more — then add steps: the day they join, three days later, a week before the period ends, the moment they upgrade.
Preview, then switch it on
A dry run shows who would get which email before anything sends. Then the daily run fires at the hour you choose, in your site's timezone, and instant sends handle the day-of emails the moment Ghost reports them.

Sixteen audiences
New free and paid members. Trials starting, ending and converting. Renewals coming up and renewals that just went through. Cancellations, churn, and the members who change their mind and come back. Complimentary plans granted, ending and expired. Unsubscribes. Tier upgrades.
Existing members are left alone
Switching a sequence on never back-fills the members you already have. Nobody who joined last year gets a "welcome aboard" this morning — only members who cross the line after the sequence exists.
Each email goes out once
Every send is logged before it leaves, so a member never gets the same step twice — not when the daily run and an instant send overlap, not when a run is retried after a hiccup.
Scope by tier and billing cadence
One sequence for annual supporters, another for monthly. A thank-you only for your top tier. Trials and complimentary members in or out, per sequence, with a checkbox.
A daily cap per sequence
Set the most emails a sequence may send in a day, so a bulk import or a busy launch morning can't turn into a flood from your domain.
Your Mailgun, your key
Nothing is sent through us. Email leaves your Mailgun account under your domain. Your Mailgun key is stored encrypted and is never shown again once you've pasted it in.
Email Automations is new, and the rough edges are still being sanded. Two of the audiences — members who reinstate a cancelled plan, and tier upgrades — need Ghost 6.57.1 or newer, because older Ghost versions don't report those events.

Email Automations comes with the Pro plan, alongside the rest of the toolbox on simple, fair pricing. Sending goes through your own Mailgun account and is billed by Mailgun, not by us.
